The Google & Nest range of smart voice assistants do not support any ‘drop in’ type feature. If you have trouble getting calls on Duo after you set up your speaker or display,check that you’re signed in to the same Google Account on Duo and your display or speaker. For Google Duo, you'll only be able to video call a contact that also has Google Duo. If you aren't sure if the person you want to call has Google Duo, you can open the Google Duo app directly on your smartphone and search the list of contacts at the top.

There's a note at the top that says, "The device being used to contact your Google Home Hub must have a camera in order for the video calling feature to work." Notably, it seems that audio-only calls still aren’t possible at the moment. This means that two different users can’t call each while both on Home Hubs.

There's no video, but you can still make audio calls. Say “Hey Google, stop recording” or tap the Stop button. You can review your message before you send by tapping Play.
